Important Event Information: Next week for the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony students!

Hello GatorBand families!

Next week we have several important and FUN events coming up – please read the following information carefully!

Monday, September 16 – CB/SB/WS performs @ Griffin 8th grade football game!

Students will need to meet at the Wakeland HS JV stadium by 5:45 pm (percussion students at 5:30). Please eat before you come – there will be no food/drink permitted in the band setup other than water (provided by the band). Students should wear last year’s “striped” band shirt and tennis shoes. Due to the predicted high temperatures we have told them that they may wear school appropriate shorts with their band shirts (any color). Bring instrument, flip folder, and lyre (students playing instruments not able to get a lyre should bring their music stands from home – oboe, bassoon, horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion).

We will perform in the stands from 6-7:50 pm. Parents wishing to attend will be charged admission for the game, Griffin band students will not be expected to pay entry. 

Please plan to pick up your student at the Wakeland stadium at 8:00 pm. Students wishing to stay for the remainder of the game will need to be picked up and supervised by a parent after 8 pm. 

*8th grade football players will travel to and from Wakeland with the football team. When they are done with their game, they will join us in the stands (in their football gear – it’s fine!) and perform with us until we’re dismissed at 7:50, at which time they will rejoin the team. We will ask the boys to get their instruments to the directors at the end of class on Monday and we will transport their instruments to the game for them. If possible, we prefer for parents of the football players to take the instruments home at the end of the performance time.

Wednesday, September 18 – Pep rally performance DURING SCHOOL 

This day students just need to remember to wear their striped BAND SHIRT at school for the pep rally.

Friday, September 20 – Wakeland Cluster Band Night @ Wakeland HS JV stadium (ALL CB/SB/WS members)

Students need to meet at the Wakeland HS JV stadium at 6:45 pm. 7th grade band members and 8th graders zoned to Lone Star HS will wear BLUE JEANS and their striped band shirt; 8th graders zoned to attend Wakeland HS next year will receive a Wakeland cluster band shirt to wear for this event (8th graders zoned LSHS will get a Lone Star band shirt in October for their band night on Oct 10!). Students will need the same equipment as Monday night- instrument, flip folder, lyre. (We will let them know by Friday non-lyre instruments need to bring music stands.) All of our students will be performing on the football field.  This is a really fun event for the whole family! The performance for the families will begin at 7:30 pm and conclude at approximately 8:30. 

It’s a busy week but it will be a lot of fun! Ready for some Pep Band!
