SummerBand is just one week away! I wanted to pass on some more details to you!
All 7/8th graders will need a copy of Foundations for Superior performance specifically for their instrument (Example here). 8th graders should already have it from last year – don’t need a new one if you still have it! Can be purchased at Music 1st, Music & Arts, or even Amazon. If you go to a local store, I’d call before making a trip – these are in high demand this time of year.
Also, all students will need a flip folder and lyre. This is a small music stand that attaches to your instrument that we use for pep band performances. (Oboes, Bassoons, and French Horns do not need lyres.) These are instrument specific. I will add some recommendation links below.
Band calendar for the rest of the year is coming soon. Band Handbook and 2018-19 forms will be updated on the website soon as well, prior to the start of school.
MUSIC – Students should have their music printed and ready to go for SummerBand and for the start of school. If you’re missing something, please print your music from THIS LINK. This will also be posted on griffingatorband.com. YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO YOUR FISD GOOGLE ACCOUNT TO ACCESS THIS FILE.
Please read that again: YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO YOUR FISD STUDENT ACCOUNT TO ACCESS THE FILE!
When printing your music find which page of the pdf that your part is on and “Print Page”. Don’t print all or you’ll end up with ALL of the parts – that’ll waste a lot of paper!

Lyre examples (you do NOT have to order these exact ones from Amazon):
Trombone – if you have a TRIGGER trombone, you need a “Large bore” lyre. If you do NOT have a trigger trombone you’ll need a small bore lyre. Link is LARGE bore.
Euph/Tuba – your best bet is to bring your instrument in to Music 1st or Music and Arts to make sure you get a lyre that fits correctly
Percussion, oboe, bassoon, and horns – you’ll just need a flip folder.
