Sandy Lake FunFest information!

Calling all 6th grade GatorBand members! Our exciting Sandy Lake performance is fast-approaching! Please make sure you read this post in its entirety! All academically eligible 6th grade band students who are in good financial standing with the band will attend.

Our Beginning Band is scheduled to rehearse on 4/18 and 4/20 until 5:00 in preparation for this performance. ALL 6th graders should be in attendance at these rehearsals (even those ineligible to attend the trip) because we will also perform these selections at our Spring Concert on May 11th!

We will perform at Sandy Lake Park on Friday, April 21st at 10:10 am.
Parents are welcome to attend! You will want to be there by 10 am if you are planning to come to hear the band play! We will need a few parent chaperones to join us – please let Mrs. Cansler know if you’re interested! (You must also have completed the FISD volunteer background check online this school year.)

Students will need to meet in the Band Hall at the start of the school day on 4/21. Band members MUST wear their green GatorBand shirt, BLUE JEANS, and closed-toe tennis shoes. Students not appropriately dressed will be sent back to class and will not attend the trip. If you need another band shirt please take care of this asap. A limited number of extra shirts are available for $10.

Following our performance, students will have about 3 hours to enjoy the park. Lunch is provided by the Band Boosters (choice of hot dog or pizza; students may also opt to bring a sack lunch from home). The cost of ride tickets, games, etc is the students’ responsibility. Due to the large number of bands performing on our date, I am going to give the students the option to pre-order the $20 book of tickets to save them the time of waiting in the ticket line when we arrive. Students who wish to pre-purchase tickets (44 tickets for $20) will need to bring $20 (checks to GGBBC) in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s name and SANDY LAKE TICKETS by this Thursday, April 13th and turn in to Mrs. Cansler. The pre-purchase option will not be available after this Thursday. Students will still be able to purchase tickets, but will have to wait and do so when we dismiss for free time at the park.

We will return to Griffin around 2:15, in time for part of 7th period and all of 8th period.

Remember – green GatorBand shirt, blue jeans, tennis shoes!

This is always a fun day! Looking forward to it! Make sure you know your parts, band!
