Coming up in the next week or so many of our 7th and 8th grade students will be auditioning for the All-Region bands. This is a requirement of all Wind Symphony students, and also involves many Symphonic Band students.
Phase 1 of our All-Region auditions will take place on Saturday, November 12th at Murphy Middle School. (620 N Murphy Rd, Murphy, TX 75094) Students are assigned an audition window. They will be given their audition time in class today (11/2/16). Audition times will NOT be emailed out individually. Students are responsible for this information. There is no transportation provided to this event. If you are in need of help carpooling, please let me know and I can try to help you arrange something with another family whose student is auditioning at a similar time. Students are responsible for bringing their instruments and audition music on the day of the audition.
Students should check in at their audition room (they will be notified of their audition room, and there will be signage at Murphy MS) at least 30 minutes prior to their audition time. They will then proceed to the warm-up area (probably in the gym) where they may warm up. Cases may be left there during the auditions as well. Students should report back to their audition room at the assigned audition time. Only the paper with the audition etudes may be brought into the room. Students should be finished auditioning within 30 minutes of their audition time, and may leave immediately after completing the Phase 1 audition. No results will be posted for students to see, so there’s no reason to stick around. 🙂
I will try to notify all students who advance to Phase 2 by the end of the day on Saturday. Students who advance to Phase 2 will re-audition on Tuesday, November 15th at Vandeventer Middle School in Frisco in the evening. The Phase 2 audition schedule should be available by the beginning of the day on Monday, November 7th.
Everyone has been working really hard on the audition music since the beginning of the school year. I’m excited about the improvement I’ve heard in the individual members of our bands! I know everyone has become better musicians through the process of learning this music!
